The full-day workshop includes two sessions:

MORNING SESSION
In the morning session, Doug will explore the different qualities of light and the importance of shadow. Doug will demonstrate the effects of various lighting sources and show attendees how to use light to their advantage when capturing their images. Photography is all about capturing that light, and creating three-dimensional contrast in our images, regardless of the subject.

The photography demonstrations will include still life compositions and flowers and how those lighting scenarios relate to the real world of wildlife and landscape photography.

AFTERNOON SESSION
The afternoon session will focus on how to transform those images into artwork, using tools and techniques in Photoshop, Lightroom, and other plugins. Whether you are a beginner photographer or have mastered one of the extreme image transformational techniques like digital painting, this workshop will provide you with the tools, techniques, and inspiration to set your artwork apart!

A VALUE-PACKED WORKSHOP:

  • Doug’s Photoshop Actions (valued at $89)

  • Doug’s Lightroom Presets (valued at $59)

  • 10% discount on any of Doug’s future classes

  • Entry for door prize: 20” x 30” limited edition print

Doug has been shooting professionally and with distinction for over 40 years. His creative approach to photography, coupled with his ability to see and capture light, permeates his impressive body of work. His love of photography, passion for art, and desire to always be the best that he can be in any field, has driven him to excel as a photographer, artist and educator.

Through his constant search for the very best technology, new techniques and tools, evolving styles, and an idealistic view of the world, Doug has become a sought-after educator. As a consummate instructor, Doug works hard to share his knowledge with fellow photographers. Photographers look to him to expand their knowledge, increase their sense of light, create that which the camera is incapable of perceiving, and explore the world as an artist. Doug has taught at professional photography seminars throughout the United States and Canada. He teaches classes in Adobe® Photoshop® and Lightroom®, many post-production applications, high dynamic range, Corel® Painter™, and studio portraiture. He is a brand ambassador for Elinchrom, Nanlite, Westcott, Saramonic, Sekonic, Benro, and Thinktank. His passion for sharing his knowledge is tempered only by the hours of the day and how much can be accomplished in one lifetime.

As you explore Doug’s work, (www.hansgate.com) you will surely see—and feel—the emotion and passion that he captures in every image, whether in his dreamscape series or iconic architectural images.
